Shiite leader al-Sadr defies Iraq gov't
I hope this is al-Sadr's last mistake. And I think this time he just might pay for it. Gen. Petreaus doesn't mess around and if anyone knows how to deal with al-Sadr, it's him. While the MSM will harp on this as it's the only negative they can find right now, I think it will be short lived. Why, because I think Gen Petreaus is DA' MAN!!! and al-Sadr is in for a rude awakening.

Bush Administration Proposes Sweeping Overhaul of Financial Regulation
I really need to read more before I comment too much but some of these changes are long overdue, such as consolidation of bank and thrift regulation. Investment banks and Broker/Dealers and the manner and speed with which they develop products (derivatives, asset backed securities, etc.) need more srutiny to determine worst case impact on markets. But I am not nearly smart enough to comment at this point.
The only thing I have to say to the bankers and brokers who will cry and then lobby to stop this is ... You would not be facing this if you had maintained the public trust. In other words you brought this on yourselves.

Clinton Fights Pressure to Withdraw, Tees Up for Fight With Party Elders
She has a double digit lead in PA, she has pullled even in NC, and
Obama cannot shed the "Rev" Wright. Why should she get out? The
funniest part of this article is the part where Chrid Dodd tells
Hillary to drop out because " ... She has no chance". This coming from
a guy who ran for president, even moved the family to Iowa and never
polled higher than one percen?

Even I am starting to pull for Hillary. I mean it. I am really
beginning to admire Mrs Clinton's ... well you know ... determination.
On the other hand, what if all of this is a plot ... a plan to get us
to feel this way? You think ..... naaaah.

Tibetan Protesters Scale Walls of U.N. Compound in Nepal
This is the best I can do from an iPhone. These people are risking everything, including their lives. That should tell you how bad it is for them.

This is an iPhone Test
Hi folks. While the Sound Off daughter and future son in law move in to watch the dogs, I will be blogging while in Alabama. This is one of the guys I will be going to see. Will Kimbrough.
Update: Now he would leave the church
First he never heard the statements, then he condemned them, then he did hear them and rejected and condemned them but stayed with the church because Wright was like an uncle and the church did so much good ... and now ... from The View:
This guy is just too much. Messiah no ... the truth, light or the way, no ... politician ... you bet.

Tonight's Chris Matthews Moment
I really have to hand it to Chris tonight. I am not really sure he understands the details ( hear that John McCain)... but he understands the Democrat plan to bail out the borrowers and lenders who were irresponsible is basically unfair. Ladies and Gents I give you tonight's Chris Matthews thumbs up moment.
Of course lenders and borrowers in trouble have already been addressed in the Bush/ Paulson plan that calls on both to renegotiate now ... meaning its already being done ... meaning McCain is right. Bail out people now ... you will just encourage them to buy over their head again ... only more so.

Obamanomics
A key component of Obama's economic plan is more regulation of investment banks. And then he proclaimed his ultimate goal is to end business cycles. And he has the audacity to make fun of McCain? And besides Clinton already did that.
Then he tells business they have to do a better job of managing risk.
I don't disagree with the first part, streamlining regulation but the second part ... I'm not sure what role a President plays in managing risk unless he intends to cover every business in America and two ... all businesses ... all attempt to minimize risk ... it's Business School 101. The ones that do it well ... usually survive.

Obama: Stamping Out Brush Fires
Obama has a problem and his name is Wright. Ok not just Wright, his wife too. Michelle Obama with another America is a mean place rant ...“You’re not talking to each other, taking advantage that you’re in this diverse community. Because sometimes it’s easier to hold on to your own stereotypes and misconceptions. It makes you feel justified in your own ignorance. That’s America."
and this coming on the heals of "brand new" Rev Wright racist and anti-Semitic rants.
Yesterday the Senator tried to distance himself with a truly unbelievable statement, but his wife is a differrent story:
After the new statements that came out in the last 24 hours ... he sounds pretty silly.

Say It Ain't So Joe
Hmmmmm, Qunnipiac Poll shows either Hillary or Barack beat John McCain in Connecticut ... as Jim Geraghty says "even with Joe Leiberman glued to his hip." Oh brother, this state is a whole lot more blue than I thought. I am a man without a state.
Tibet Update: China Slips, Reporters See The Real Tibet
For some reason China arranged for a group of Western Jouranlists to tour Tibet to show them how calm everything was ... operative word "was". As soon as monks saw the journalists they cried out for help.
"The outburst by about 30 monks came as the journalists, including an Associated Press reporter, were being shown around the sacred Jokhang Temple by government handlers in Lhasa. "Tibet is not free! Tibet is not free!" yelled one young Buddhist monk, who then started crying"
The President has indeed gotten involved:
"President Bush called China's President Hu Jintao on Wednesday and raised concerns about the crackdown in Tibet. Bush encouraged Hu to engage in "substantive dialogue" with representatives of the Dalai Lama, the White House said. The president also called on China to allow access for journalists and diplomats in Tibet."
The AP says the one lingering question is, that China fails to answer, what led up to the riots? Also what caused these otherwise peacefull people to break loose?

Audacity of Obama
You have to follow the link ... otherwise I would just give it away. Let me just say Obama should be careful what he says, it may come back to haunt him. I agree, words matter.

The Stories They Didn’t Want You To Hear At Forest Lake High
This blogger at the Star Tribune did an outstanding job on reporting the important part of the story. Please read Kersten's blog here to read the story about the fine veterans on the National Heroes Tour. She also does a great job pointing out that a Principal that wanted to keep politics out of the classroom caved to a political organizations demands.

My favorite quote from the article is the following said by a student, "My brother's in the armed forces...it's a slap in the face for people with family members in the armed forces," said student Elijah Miller. A big THANK YOU for the students of Forest Lake High for showing our veterans they care and appreciate their service. I am truly impressed. ~Mel

Obama Is A Liberal
Ok ... that's no shock ... but Thomas Sowell points that the Senator shows no signs of compomisinbg any of the far left idology that he has practiced since birth ... in an attempt to unite us.
There is no evidence that Obama ever sought to educate himself on the views of people on the other end of the political spectrum, much less reach out to them. He reached out from the Left to the Far Left. That’s bringing us all together? Is “divisiveness” defined as disagreeing with the agenda of the Left? Who on the Left was ever called divisive by Obama before that became politically necessary in order to respond to revelations about Jeremiah Wright? One sign of Obama’s verbal virtuosity was his equating a passing comment by his grandmother — “a typical white person,” he says — with an organized campaign of public vilification of America in general and white America in particular, by Jeremiah Wright.

Obama's Charitable Record
They all care for the poor ... when they are doing it with your money. They all want to shelter the homeless ... when its with your money. They all want to comfort the sick ... with your money. UNbelieveable!
Several are pointing out the couple's charitable contributions prior to Barack Obama's big book-related payday — in 2002, the Obamas contributed $1,050 from an adjusted gross income of $259,394, and in 2001 they gave $1,470 from an adjusted gross income of $272,759. They contributed far more in Obama's big earning year, 2005, when they gave $77,315 on an adjusted gross income of $1,655,106.

Hillary: Oh what a tangled web we weave!
My Grandma, yes that typical white grandma, used to say, "Jim, oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive." First here's Hillary trying to put out the Bosnia Brush fire today.
But unfortunately the press played gotcha again this afternoon This morning on KDKA radio she claimed it was her first misstatement in 12 years ...
but the blogs quickly found at least 3 other times and by this afternoon she was denying that she ever said that. Priceless.

Chelsea To Student ... None Of Your Business
This just ran on Wolf Blitzer's show on CNN. It's video of Chelsea Clinton responding to a question from a student at Butler University about the Monica Lewinsky scandal and if it her mother's credibility. I actually don't think it was a bad question. Obviously Chelsea did.
(Sorry about this ... after 3 different uploads I think I finally have it right.)

Obama Girl says Chris Matthews has a crush on Obama
Morning Joe played the new Obama Girl video. In it she asks Hillary to get out of the race because "Obama has the super powers to save the world". From Messiah to Super Hero. Oh and both she and Chris Matthews have a crush on Obama. Watch Matthews response at end ... HE LOVES THIS STUFF.
Young Tibetans Long Journey Home
It's an uplifiting article of faith and hope. But still notice the words "escape", "affraid", "in trouble", etc. The fear is that those arrested will never be seen again, even if there is peace. It's happened before, it will happen again.

Is This Good News?
Listener Vincent sent this to me ... but after reading it three times I can't figure out how it is good news. If you know ... send me an e-mail at jim.vicevich@cbsradio.com.
"Impress your friends. Tell them that the "TED spread" dropped like a rock today, from over 200 basis points to about 150. What the heck does that mean? "TED" is ticker-symbol shorthand for Treasury-Eurodollar. The TED spread is the difference between three-month dollar-LIBOR and the three-month US Treasury bill rate." Read the whole thing at RedState.

More Changes To The Blog
In an effort to make the site easier to scan, I am making some changes to the code that will hopefully accomplish that. Starting tonight (ok, maybe tomorrow). Front page posts will be just about one line and each will end with a read more. If there's video to watch, it will be noted. Let me know what you think at jim.vicevich@cbsradio.com.
For a preview go ahead and click read more.
Each post now automatically contains a "read more" button which opens the post up in a separate page even if there is nothing more to read. Video will be placed on the full page like this:

HuffPost Mocks Catholics For Attending 'Church' of 'Hitler Youth'
This is disgusting ... but the norm on the left. My question is, with the left mocking religion so much ... why are so many Catholics liberals? Man ... Newsbsuters is chock full of stuff today. They must be working overtime.
Name That Party
I love this game ... cause we always know the political party in play if the mainstream media doesn't mention it. From Newsbusters.org
Did Chris Matthews Endorse Obama?
Sure sounded like that to me and that's what Newsbusters heard too. Well, he's been yearning for the Rabbi for weeks now. You be the judge. They have the entire video. Is MSNBC in the tank for Obama or what?
I have a very cut down version. I recommend going there and watching the whole thing. The best part is after the tirade when Mika asks if its an Obama endorsement.
Head to Newsbusters and watch what I think is the best part I don't have. At the very end, after interviewing Howard Wolfson, Mika tries to cut to a commercial. I can't wait for Hardball tonight.

Bill Richardson Unplugged Part Two
I like him better on the talk shows. The real BR comes out. Just a couple bites. The first one is classic ... we need to vote for Obama cause ... it's his turn. Now That's change.
BTW PA Governor (and Hillary supporter) Ed Rendell surprised me. He thinks we should vote for Hillary because women are oppressed.
Two great reasons to be President: It's your turn and oppressed women.

From The Script This Time
Here's the video I talked about this morning. Obama military adviser Gen. Tony McPeak, who the day before had accused Bill Clinton of McCarthyism ( I still don't know what that is) ... for questioning Obama's patriotism. Saturday, with the Rabbi looking over his shoulder, the General never deviated from the written script. Now that's a good General.
and here's the original Clinton comment.

Overall US death toll in Iraq hits 4,000

Here's what I told the New Haven Register a while back: "'We all definitely don't want to be there forever, but it would be a much better tribute to our fallen soldiers to get the job done right and leave with our heads high,' she said.
While the MSM media refuses to, I encourage us all to remember our fallen heroes and their families today. They are the finest this nation has and gave all for us to be able to live freely in this great nation today. Remember that, as the MSM and others try to use the death count as political tool.

The Peace Folk Get Violent

The red substance, which one protester later described as “stage blood,” initially drew gasps and a few terrified yelps from the 600 worshipers at the mass. The shock, however, quickly transformed into anger as people booed the six while they were escorted from the parish auditorium.

In Easter Sermon, New Obama Pastor Charges Rev. Wright Victim of ‘Lynching’
You HAVE to be kidding me. After all the crap that came out of the "Rev" Wright's mouth, and that's right, I said crap, this guy has the nerve to compare the media coverage to lynching???!!! Ridiculous. The "Rev" was called on his hateful comments, please tell me how in the world this could compared to Jesus' death. A disgrace. The only thing I can come up with is this guy wanted the spotlight next. Read the full article here.

New Video
Well I hope you all have had a nice Easter or simply a great weekend with friends or family. Mine was wonderful from Good Friday to Easter Vigil, my church did an incredible job. The services were, traditional, beautiful, and crowded. Thanks to Father Whyte and all of the volunteers for making it so memorable.
Because Easter is a most holy holiday for me, I chose not to post video today. I hope you understand. I will however be posting this evening. Thanks for your patience.
