In journalism we used to call this a story too good to check, or as Hillary's campaign might say ... never let the facts get in the way of a good story. I think at this point I actually feel sorry for her.
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York has featured in her campaign ... the story of ... an uninsured pregnant woman who lost her baby and died herself after being denied care by an Ohio hospital because she could not come up with a $100 fee ... But hospital administrators said Friday that Ms. Bachtel was under the care of an obstetrics practice affiliated with the hospital, that she was never refused treatment and that she was, in fact, insured.
Hot has the story and video.

War Monger (AKA: Well you did vote for the war.)
When Bill Cunningham went on his tirade I condemned it on the spot and so did John McCain. Barack Obama has the chance to do the same. He has chosen not to.
"Local talk show host Ed Schultz used the term "war monger" to describe John McCain while warming up the crowd in Grand Forks, N.D., before Obama’s arrival at the state’s Democratic convention."
How did the Obama campaign respond? Read for yourself:
“John McCain is not a warmonger and should not be described as such,” Obama spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Saturday. She added, “He’s a supporter of a war that Senator Obama believes should have never been authorized and never been waged.”
In other words a war monger. Compare that back handed condemnation with McCain's after the Cunningham incident:
Oh, and while McCain drew heat from many conservatives for personally condemning Cunningham's tirade ... the Obama campaign:
"On Friday, however, Obama thanked Schultz and called him the “voice of progressive radio.” Obama also appeared as a guest on his radio show earlier in the week."

Memo to McCain Campaign: Don't play nice ... they don't intend to.
Update: Powerline has I think a great take on this (with video)
"JOHN adds: That's a step in the right direction. Now, if Obama will admit that McCain, not being a warmonger, has not advocated fighting in Iraq for 100 years, and if he apologizes for his own endlessly-repeated smears that were essentially the same as Schultz's, we can get on with the campaign."

Obama's Untruths Uncovered

Here is one audacity Redstate missed on Hardball Wednesday night. My problem isn't just that he says it, (granted he is a politician) ... it's that no one challenges this guy.
Rice On Race.
I thought this weekend would be a good time to link to this post over at Powerline. It ran last weekend but it moved me.
Opppps, I misspoke again
Read the latest "misunderstanding" here.

Update: Here's some video of the presser Mel is talking about.
This Morning's Headlines
British Muslims 'planned to kill thousands by bringing down SEVEN transatlantic airliners in one go with liquid bombs'. Still at war folks.
Pelosi warns Petraeus on Iraq testimony ... what? Memo to Nancy: he's a General not a politican. Oh brother.
People are down on the economy ... even though their finances are fine.
"Today, however, Americans report being deeply worried about the country even though many say their own personal finances are still in fairly good shape." I wonder why?
Some Banks are foreclosing ... but not taking possession of the property. Not good.
Obama's Support Softens ... particularly among men and upper-income voters ... the article draws no conclusions.
Citi merger architect calls deal ‘mistake’ ... remember Sandy Weill? Now they tell us.
Global Warming Dipped This Year ... that's the BBC headline ... global warming dipped? Double oh brother.
CBS planning another Rove smackdown and Powerline is all over it. This could get good.
Muslims leaving Islam? ... not sure what to make of this but if it is true maybe the lead story has something to do with it.
Headlines gleaned from Drudgereport, Instapundit, Powerline and HotAir

Obama "I don't want to stereotype people"
This was the clip of the night during last night's Hardball interview with the Messiah. I am not sure I understood the reason behind Chris' question and STUNNED he did not follow it up.
Remember now this is the same guy who threw grandma off the train and then called her a typical white person. Nice. How does he get away with this time after time?

Obama Against Concealed Carry
This story is actually pretty disturbing. But Obama's reason for his stance against concealed carry is more disturbing ... he's afraid "innocent" people may be shot during an altercation.

McCain: No to the Secret Service
A house panel heard testimony today on the cost of Secret Service protection. Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan said costs are rising in part because of coverage of both Democratic Presidential contenders ... which this time around started 9 months earlier than in 2004.
The shocker though was this exchange with Republican Congressman Harold Rogers. Listen closely.
The McCain camp says it will not discuss security, but listen to this snippet from the Molly Henneberg's report on Fox News. Impressive or stupid in today's world.

The Rev Wright Defended
Does the Bishop know he's doing this? The Rev Pfleger, a Catholic priest, says pay no attention to what you heard ... the Rev Wright is not an angry racist. I've included a short piece of an interview that O'Reilly's producer did with the good Father ... the rest will air tonight on the Factor.
Here's the scoop on the Rev Pfleger. An activist himself, he's not so popular with many Catholics in Chicago .... but the best post is here by Michelle Malkin. Oh, and this one here.
The Second Iran-Iraq War
The Iranian-trained militias operated in 2006-2008 as units known as Special Groups or Secret Cells, ostensibly claiming to serve within Mr. Sadr's militia. In reality, the U.S. military says their titular leader – the ex-Sadrist Qais Khazali – reported to a Lebanese Hezbollah commander, who in turn reported to the highest Qods Force leaders.................
Iran and Mr. Sadr could not simply unleash a floodtide of violence that would overwhelm Iraqi Security Forces partnered with U.S. units, because they are more capable of handling the situation. For all of his nationalist rhetoric, Mr. Sadr is evidently not in control of his movement -- it appears that the decision to fight or not rested with the Qods Force commander and not with him. But Mr. Sadr's militia remains a reserve from which the Special Groups can and will draw in crisis.

Independent Lieberman Still Dancing With Democrats
I applaud anyone that stands up to MoveOn.org and others. The Senator is standing up for our national security. Thanks Senator for taking a courageous stand, especially when you consider Joe stands alone among Democrats who continue to push their political agenda instead of doing what's best for the American people.

I did not know this but I don't think its why Hillary is still in the race. She's still in because she does not want to lose.

China Steps Up Attacks, Brands Dalai Lama Supporters 'Scum of Buddhism'
China says the Buddhists planned suicide attacks and caches of weapons to carry out deadly attacks. The White House responded by defending the Dalai Lama.

Obamaisms
Some people talk straight ... others stretch the truth. By now Hillary's Bosnia expedition has been well documented but what of this man Obama?
First, he has been nabbed by Fact Check for the way he has used the famous "100 years of war" line to attack John McCain. Here's our post on this complete with video.
Now the Columbia Jouranlism Review has criticized him for the same thing.
Today, for instance, he said: “We can’t afford to stay in Iraq, like John McCain said, for another hundred years.” It’s technically true that McCain said that, but Obama’s clear goal in phrasing it that way was to imply, falsely, that McCain wants the war to continue for that long. In other words, he’s gone from lying about what McCain said to being deeply misleading about it. Progress, of a kind.
Now today nabbed on another Obamaism by Fact Check:
In a new ad, Obama says, "I don’t take money from oil companies."Technically, that's true, since a law that has been on the books for more than a century prohibits corporations from giving money directly to any federal candidate. But that doesn’t distinguish Obama from his rivals in the race.We find the statement misleading:Obama has accepted more than $213,000 from individuals who work for companies in the oil and gas industry and their spouses. Two of Obama's bundlers are top executives at oil companies and are listed on his Web site as raising between $50,000 and $100,000 for the presidential hopeful.
A new kinda politician, straight talk, above the frey, the light, the truth, the way.

The Vietnam and Korean War Memorial Walls in New Haven, CT have been desecrated
New Haven, CT Rallies
March 27, 2008
March 27, 2008
For Immediate Release:
The GATHERING OF EAGLES, a patriotic organization whose goal is to publicly support our men and women in uniform, whether active duty or veteran, announces our whole hearted participation with the New Haven EAGLES UP in an upcoming rally at the Vietnam and Korean War memorial. The Vietnam and Korean War Memorial Walls in New Haven, CT have been desecrated on three separate occasions. It was claimed to have been done by Illegal Alien gangs including - but not necessarily limited to - the MS-13 criminal gang organization, due to the messages that were scrawled upon the face of these memorials. We as Americans should never stand for this. These two internet links show the media coverage of this story. On Saturday, April 5th, Gathering of Eagles will be holding a rally at the War Memorial Park in New Haven, to protest this unspeakable act and to stand up for our fallen heroes. This practice of Free Speech by the Gathering of Eagles is done as our rights as citizens; and is also done to show that those who appear to have desecrated these memorials are not Americans at all and wish to dishonor those who guarantee our rights as veterans. Please pass the word around and stand with us.

Evolution of religious bigotry
We've talked about this before ... but its nice to see somelike Jonah Goldberg put it in writing.
But the most annoying aspect of the Darwin fish is the false bravado it represents. It's a courageous pose without consequence. Like so much other Christian-baiting in American popular culture, sporting your Darwin fish is a way to speak truth to power on the cheap.

A Decision 'To Kill Both'
But Williams, a registered sex offender on probation, decided the women had likely memorized his face after he ordered them at gunpoint to sit as he scouted the house. "That is when Williams realized he would have to kill both females," New Britain Det. Raymond Grzegorzek wrote in the department's incident report on the invasion.
He just decided to kill them. Just decided to take them away from their friends and families. He looked into this woman's face and pulled the trigger.

Hardball: Barack Should Have Played Hoops
What are the Hardballites actually saying here anyway. Is it Black people can't bowl. Or is basketball the way to get in touch with African Americans. What does bowling have to do with race. I'm white, grew up in a blue collar town, bowled on Saturdays and I suck too.
It's clearly not racist other than why do we have to bring race into everything. And what is the point of mentioning his basketball ability ... to show he is an athlete?

President Booed, Matthews Admires

Obama: McCain will wage a 100 year war, sorta, kinda
Barack Obama and his supporters have been using the "McCain wants wage a 100 year war" for weeks now, except as we outlined on the show, is not accurate. Why he even said it again today. But after "Fact Check" busted the myth, reporters challenged him for taking the quote out of context ... and he acknowledges it. But my guess ... he won't stop saying it.
and her is John McCain's comment in context. Remember it next time you hear the Messiah mention it.
Carl Cameron did a great report on this tonight on Special Report on Fox. If only the other networks would do the same. Nope.

Lieberman On McCain: 3 Great Bonus Bites
I everyone ... under the weather again. Every time I fly.
I've posted three video cuts from Joe Lieberman with George Stephanopoulis on This Week, because he is our Senator and it was a great interview. First he explains why he backs McCain. The party, he says left me.
Here's a second bite on why words are cheap if they aren't back up by action. Another reason he's backing McCain.
and finally ... here's what Lieberman had to say about Obama and his willingness to fight the war on terror. Again actions speak louder than words.

Lieberman Hits Dems
I think the following quote from the Senator says it all....
"It's not the Bill Clinton-Al Gore party, which was strong internationalists, strong on defense, pro-trade, pro-reform in our domestic government," he said. "It's been effectively taken over by a small group on the left of the party that is protectionist, isolationist and very, very hyperpartisan. So it pains me."
